Ted Houser

Ted was born Sept. 20, 1946, to Bob and Doris Houser and lived in Des Moines his entire life. He attended Roosevelt High School, Cornell College, and Drake University, where he received his degree. Ted and Janet Ann (Jorgensen) were married June 22, 1968, in Des Moines. Employed by EMC Insurance Companies, Ted recently celebrated his 45th anniversary with the company.

He was a family man with a selfless heart; a friend who would give generously, both time and talent to those in need. A member of Union Park Baptist Church, Ted was passionate about helping in the ministry, especially in supporting the youth programs. He loved all music, especially southern gospel. He was also an avid sports fan who enjoyed coaching his kids' teams, volunteering, and cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes and Drake Bulldogs.

Ted will be greatly missed by his wife of 46 years, Jan; his children Scott (Sarah) Houser of Des Moines and Robin Broder of Kansas City; sister Judy (Jules) Gray of Johnston; sister-in-law Kathryn Mikesh Houser (Ray) of Johnston; and many nieces and nephews. Ted was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Doris Houser and brother Jim Houser.
